PARISH NEWS – 4th Week of Easter

Please Keep in Your Prayers
Deacon Glenn ~~ Curt Denmark
Harry Easely ~~ Jerry Collins
Agnes Sauers, RIP

The Altar Society is in need of a new treasurer. Pat Wald, our current treasurer, is moving out of the area at the end of May. She will be glad to help someone else learn the job. Please search your soul and help us out.

The May meeting of the Altar Society will be a Baby Shower to help out the Pregnancy Center. It will be a potluck.

The Fourth Sunday in the Octave of Easter is also the day that has been designated as “World Day of Prayer for Vocations.” Prayers for vocations to the Priesthood and the religious life should be in our thought and brought to mind often.

The Congregation for Divine Worship decreed on May 23, 2000 that “throughout the world, the Second Sunday of Easter will receive the name Divine Mercy Sunday, a perennial invitation to the Christian world to face, with confidence in divine benevolence, the difficulties and trials that humankind will experience in the years to come.” Devotion to the Divine Mercy was promoted by St. Faustina Kowalska, canonized.

Agnes Sauers, RIP

We are sorry to be saying good bye to Kyle Bates and his family. Their contribution to St. Mary over the years has been invaluable. We pray their new station will greet them warmly and their new parish be fruitful for them.

The Fourth Sunday in the Octave of Easter is also the day that has been designated as “World Day of Prayer for Vocations.” Prayers for vocations to the Priesthood and the religious life should be in our thought and brought to mind often.

Rice Bowl

Please make checks payable to St. Mary Parish, noting Rice Bowl on the check.

Thank you for your prayerful participation in Catholic Relief Services’ Operation Rice Bowl this past Lent. Your Lenten prayers demonstrate true solidarity with our neighbors here and around the world.

75% of our Rice Bowl contributions will go to CRS and support projects to help people all around the world who struggle with the burdens of hunger and poverty. 25% of our contributions will remain here in Western Washington, and will help fund hunger and poverty alleviation programs that assist people in our own local communities.

Please visit the Operation Rice Bowl website at www.crs.org/orb to find more information about how your generous gifts are put to use around the world and www.seattlearch.org/missions for information about local use of funds. Your support provides concrete assistance to our neighbors in need, and makes
